International Student Services (ISS)

ISS is responsible for providing programs prioritizing growth, progress, and success of international students at McGill. The ISS operates to ease students’ transition to a new school and a new home in a new country. International Student Services is a home away from home.

Equity Subcommittee on Queer People

The McGill Equity Subcommittee on Queer People is a subcommittee of the McGill Joint Senate-Board Committee on Equity that addresses issues of representation, inclusion and support of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered students, staff and faculty at McGill with respect to academic and non-academic life on campus.

Senate Subcommittee on Women

The Senate Subcommittee on Women is a subcommittee of the McGill Joint Senate-Board Committee on Equity that addresses issues of women’s rights, promotion of women and networking and liaising for new women faculty and graduate students.  More resources for women at McGill can be found at the McGill Institute for Gender and Feminist Studies (IGSF).

First Peoples’ House

The First Peoples’ House attempts to provide a sense of community and a voice to Aboriginal students that have left their home communities in order to pursue their education.

Office for Students with Disabilities

Students in need of services are encouraged to contact the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) at the time of their acceptance at McGill. If students discover that they require assistance once they are at McGill, they may also contact the office for information or assistance.

Career Planning Services

CAPS assists students in their career development and search for permanent, part-time, and summer jobs, as well as internships by providing a variety of workshops, individual advising, a comprehensive job posting service and an extensive Career Resource Centre.

Social Equity and Diversity Education Office (SEDE)

The SEDE Office is committed to fostering a fair and inclusive environment that respects the dignity of each member of the McGill Community, by actively educating, heightening awareness, and providing opportunities for dialogue about equity and diversity-related issues.

Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM)

As a Teaching Assistant you are a member of the Association for Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM).  If you feel that you are working too many hours, not bearing an equal workload, or feeling exploited by your supervisor, contact the AGSEM representative for your department, or get in touch with a grievance officer at the union.

Mental Health Services

The McGill Student Mental Health Service offers a range of psychological and psychiatric services for all McGill students. The service strives to provide a secure, non-judgmental space for students of all orientations and backgrounds. A team of psychiatrists and psychologists are available by appointment for assessment and treatment of many conditions which may interfere with psychological well-being. Students suffering from problems with anxiety, depression, problems with sleep, attention, obsessions or concentration, relationship difficulties, eating disorders, severe winter blues etc., may make an appointment by phone or in person by calling 514.398.6019 or dropping by the office in the Brown Building 3600 McTavish, Suite 5500.

Counselling Services

McGill Counselling Service is there to assist students in dealing with personal, academic, and vocational concerns.  McGill students are seen on an individual basis throughout the year, and also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of groups and workshops.

The service is confidential and free of charge to eligible students.  To make an appointment to see a triage counsellor call 514-398-3601 or drop by the office in Suite 4200, Brown Student Services Building, 3600 McTavish Street.

Student Services

Student Services is the student-funded organization that administers many of the above services, as well as a number of others, all designed to support students as they follow their educational paths.
