The Council Commissioner shall:
a. act as Speaker and preside at all Council, Annual and General Meetings of the Society and preserve order;
b. refrain from voting or participating in debate;
c. ensure that documents for Council and general meetings are solicited, compiled and distributed, as governed by bylaw and regulation; and
d. attend all meetings of the Council Steering Committee.

The Elections Commissioner is responsible for assisting the Council Commissioner and the Council, and serves as interim speaker in the the Council Commissioner’s absence. The Elections Commissioner shall be responsible for all aspects of the administration of Society elections and referenda.

The President is responsible for:
a)Overseeing all public relations of the Society.
b) Serving as a voting member of all Society committees except the Constitution Committee.
c) Representing the Society to other bodies, student associations and individuals within the University.
d) Serving as the caucus coordinator for Student Services subcommittee representatives and Board of Governors (BOG) representatives.
e) Supporting the activities of other Executive members where needed.
f) Preparing & chairing Executive meetings.
g) Chairing the Committee for Constitutional Revisions.
h) Overseeing constitutional updates
i) The proper implementation of the Society’s Graduate Student Support Trust Fund.
j) In the absence of a Chief Returning Officer, retaining all the duties and responsibilities of that position.
k) Organizing an orientation in October for members of the Society Council.

The VP (External & Governmental Affairs) is responsible for:
a) Government relations, lobbying and campaigns.
b) Representing PGSS at meetings of national and provincial student associations of whom the Society is a member.
c) Representing the Society to other external organizations when mandated by council or the membership.
d) Ensuring that Society members are well informed about decisions taken at national and provincial meetings.
e) Communicating with the media on positions taken by the Society on matters pertaining to external affairs.
f) Campaigns and programs of the Canadian Federation of Students at the local level.
g) Serving as chairperson of the External Affairs Committee.

The VP (University & Academic Affairs) is responsible for:
a)Ensuring that the Society is represented on the University governing bodies.
b) Representing the Society on the McGill Senate and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Council.
c) Actively recruiting representatives for university committees.
d) Ensuring regular communication among Society representatives and provide support in their duties.
e) Soliciting regular reports and an annual report from each Society representative on University governing bodies.
f) Serving as caucus coordinator of the graduate student representatives to the McGill Senate and Graduate Faculty.
g) Ensuring that Society members are informed about decisions taken at university bodies.
h) Communicating with the media on positions taken by the Society on matters pertaining to university affairs.
i) Serving as chairperson of the University Affairs Committee.

a) Monitoring all financial matters of the Society.
b) Presenting quarterly reports to council, including forecasting, and financial position of the Society.
c) Overseeing staff evaluation procedures.
d) Regularly checking the ledgers, receipts, deposit books and other financial records.
e) Disbursesing the funds of the Society under the direction of the Council.
f) Overseeing the operation of and proper implementation of the Society’s Health and Dental Plan, and granting program.
g) Serving as chairperson of the Committee on Monetary Affairs.

b. respond to inquiries from Society members who require information regarding their rights and responsibilities; and
c. follow cases with Society members who require support or referral.

e. represent the Society on at least one of the Subcommittee on the Environment or the Committee on Physical Development; and
f. ensure that the Society is represented on Senate committees, subcommittees and workgroups whose mandate includes environmental issues on campus including, but not limited to, the Subcommittee on the Environment and the Committee on Physical Development.

d. ensure that the Society is represented on University committees, subcommittees, and workgroups whose mandate includes health or wellness issues, including but not limited to the Committee for Student Services, the Health Services Advisory Committee, the Mental Health Advisory Committee, and the International Student Health Advisory Committee.

a. attend all meetings of the University Senate;

c. liaise with the SSMU Senate Caucus;
d. read and familiarize himself or herself with Senate documents and related issues prior to each Senate meeting;
e. notify the Vice-President (Academic) and University Secretariat in writing if unable to attend any Senate meeting;
f. represent the Society on the Academic Policy Committee;
g. represent the Society on the Senate Committee on Libraries; and
h. ensure that the Society is represented on advisory committees, subcommittees, and workgroups of all library-related committees at the University.
